There was a major reorganization of downloadable event files on November 21, 2009. As of that date, event files are packaged into ZIP archives and available on a year by year basis directly from this page. Previously it was necessary to go through an intermediate page to get to the downloadable archives. Event files are no longer available for individual teams. It is now necessary to download all the event files for a season in a single archive. This reflects the way that most users access the data and it is much easier to maintain the files this way. Users who wish to study specific teams or individual leagues will need to extract the games from the season set. It is still true that each event file has the home games for a single team for a single season. The naming convention for the event files has not changed. The box score event files are now accessible through their own list of available years in a way that is directly parallel to the full event files. Once again, they are available on an annual basis without going through an intermediate file. There were previously some event files for the pre-1952 seasons. These have been removed as many seasons are undergoing substantial upgrading and expansion. They will be returned to the site as they are completed.

- Event files for most seasons prior to 1974 are each missing a few games. For a
list of the games that are missing (although some of them are in the event
files with some innings reconstructed based on a partial game account and box
score) see the Most Wanted List.
For seasons prior to 1952, the only available data format is the box score event
file. See Box Score Event Files for
details.
- Event files for post-season games are available through the links at the
bottom of this page.
