The (first) Negro National League dissolved after the 1931 season. Cum Posey attempted to create a league to replace it, the East-West league, which failed to last even one full season. Several members of the NNL hooked up with the Negro Southern League, raising it to "major-league" status for the only time in 1932.
Two former NNL teams met in the 1932 NSL playoffs as the Chicago American Giants (CAG) won the first-half championship and the Nashville Elite Giants (NSH) won the second half. The American Giants won the series 4 games to 3.
