The second Negro National League began play in 1933. It is hard to reconstruct exactly what happened in terms of postseason play in 1933. Several teams played games against other teams which some newspapers characterized as "playoff" games but others seemed to characterize as "exhibition" games. So, we have decided to set the 1933 "postseason" aside for now. Most of these aforementioned games will likely be included when we eventually release the 1933 season (which, sadly, is probably several years away).
The 1934 Negro National League followed the same format as its predecessor with the season divided into two halves with the two half-season champions meeting in a postseason series. The two half-champions of the 1934 NNL were the Philadelphia Stars (PH5) and the Chicago American Giants (CAG) who met in a best-of-seven series, which went eight games because of one tie. The Stars beat the American Giants 4-3-1 to win what would be the only pennant in their 16-year history (the entire run of the second Negro National League).
