Retrosheet has box scores for twenty-one interracial games played in 1943. Thirteen of these games were directly related to World War II. Twelve of these games involved the Harrisburg - St. Louis Stars, who abandoned their Negro National League schedule to barnstorm with a white team organized by Honus Wagner to raise money for the war effort. The Stars were sometimes referred to as the "War Bond Bombers" or "Victory Bombers" during this tour.
In addition, a game was played at Great Lakes Naval Station between a white team of former and future major-leaguers in the U.S. Navy (GLK) and the Chicago American Giants (CAG) of the Negro American League. The game story for this game in the Chicago Defender noted that "[t]he Great Lakes team ha[d] wins against the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs." A play-by-play account of this game has been deduced from newspaper game stories and box scores.
The remaining interracial games this season are more typical games between barnstorming "All-Star" teams in California in October and November. The Negro League teams involved in these games were the Baltimore Colored Giants (BCG) and Kansas City Royals (KCR) - neither of whom seemed to have an obvious connection to Baltimore or Kansas City. The white teams include a team organized by Joe Pirrone (PIR), a team referred to as "Major League All Stars" (MLS) and the (somewhat oddly named) Western Pipe & Steel Boilermakers (WSB). Retrosheet has box scores for several other games between high-level teams which are not included here because the white teams (mostly a team referred to as Kent Parker's All-Stars) did not necessarily have enough major-league talent. These games may be added at a later date. Retrosheet is also aware of several games for which box scores have not been found.
