This is a very problematic PBP. Apart from the gaps in the CLE
4th and 6th, the assist totals do not jibe. On the two box
scores I have, Blanding has 3 assists and here he has 5 The
Lansche box score is way off on a lot, as is the game story.
The Reach box score appears to be more accurate, but still
differs from the PBP. Part of the problem may be that the
Cincinnati Commercial Tribune had a bizarre way of showing PBP.
The innings were not separated and the narrative had all of the
CIN offense followed by the opponents offense. Blanding has two
too many and Ball, Turner and Adams are minus one assist and the
team totals are one short. Possibly there was an assist on the
2nd inning play where Lobert scored on the error to Adams.
Assuming the CIN fielding is correct, the five missing flyouts
are to SS, 3B, CF and RF-2. Source: Cinci Commercial
Tribune; 0 R, 0 H, 0 E, 0 LOB. Reds 5, Naps 9.
